But the president's purpose is to serve us the people, not the other way around. So this I counter with my own pledge, that with it not only do I counter the pledge to B.O., but that I would hope others make their statements in counter such Marxist propaganda. Whether or not others copy my own anti-pledge statement, I would rather they make their own.

What were you before Barack Obama? Why did it take until Barack Obama was in office to pledge to do good? Why couldn't you have been a good father prior to president Obama? Why did you have to call yourself a hyphenated American? Why did Obama have to show up before you treated your community better?

Yeah, you already had the freedom to be a good father or mother, or a good child. Nobody made you the evil person you are. Nobody made you refer to yourself as a hyphenated American, you called yourself that. There always has been the ability to treat your community better.

What is your problem, that made you incapable of being any of these things prior to Obama?

To those Hollywood stars who actually pledged to [blindly] follow Obama, are you insane? He's the president, a leader and a servant to the American people. He is not meant to be your master. Americans have no master, for we are to be the masters of our own selves.

I pledge to no man. I follow no man. I was born and raised an American, and I will die an American. I am a patriot to none, except to liberty and life. I proudly raise my hat and my American flags, beyond death my cold hands will carry my rags. This my promise is to the world, I will not fall until my last breath of freedom.

I am not made for the state, neither my brothers nor sisters. Yeah, we never surrender freedoms, never sacrificing freedoms, for life being too precious. For even in death, the individual lives on. Every generation singing of their freedoms, never being stopped for they know their pledge, unalienable rights to liberty, life, and justice for not just the some or many, but for all. Maybe we won't win, but we'll keep fighting; nobody ever fought for freedom and expected to win.

Video Game Wishlist(?)

In this post I will update my $500 video game wishlist. I may go higher, may be lower when December comes. But that'll be decided when the time comes. Actually, I only call it a $500 wishlist because I don't know how many video games I will get. But alas, I will update this list until December. I'm also including some video games I previously owned, as I sold them only to get another video game coming out despite their superiority on my list, and those games I will give a red color to. (An additional note, some may not come out by then, but I'm not worried about release dates.) Any cross-platform games I'll get for the PS3 unless otherwise noted.

Alpha Protocol

Dante's Inferno

Darksiders

Demon's Souls

Dead Space

Dragon Age Origins

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0); I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman (Carol Shea-Porter)
ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed
up by being near the window. (On an airplane!)

2. I got a call from a Kansas Congressman's (Moore)
staffer (Howard Bauleke), who wanted to go to
Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the
passport information, and then he interrupted me with,
''I'm not trying to make you look stupid,
but Capetown is in Massachusetts .''

Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained,
''Cape Cod is in Massachusetts , Capetown is in Africa ''
his response -- click.

3. A senior Vermont Congressman (Bernie Sanders) called,
furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was
wrong with the vacation in Orlando . He said he was
expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not
possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state.

He replied, 'don't lie to me, I looked on the map and
Florida is a very thin state!'' (OMG)

4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife (Landra Reid) who
asked, ''Is it possible to see England from Canada?"
I said, ''No.''
She said, ''But they look so close on the map.'' (OMG, again!)

5. An aide for a cabinet member (Janet Napolitano)
once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas.
I pulled up the reservation and noticed he had only a 1-hour
layover in Dallas . When I asked him why he wanted to rent a
car, he said, ''I heard Dallas was a big airport, and
we will need a car to drive between gates to save time.'' (Aghhhh)

6. An Illinois Congresswoman (Jan Schakowsky) called last week.
She needed to know how it was possible that her flight
from Detroit left at 8:30 a.m., and got to Chicago at 8:33 a.m.

I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois,
but she couldn't understand the concept of time zones.
Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that.

7. A New York lawmaker, (Jerrold Nadler) called and asked,
"Do airlines put your physical description on your bag
so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?"

I said, 'No, why do you ask?'

He replied, ''Well, when I checked in with the airline,
they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and
I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!"
After putting him on hold for a minute, while I looked into
it. (I was dying laughing).

I came back and explained the city code for
Fresno , Ca. is (FAT - Fresno Air Terminal),
and the airline was just putting a destination tag on his luggage.

8. A Senator John Kerry aide (Lindsay Ross) called to
inquire about a trip package to Hawaii.
After going over all the cost info, she asked,
''Would it be cheaper to fly to California
and then take the train to Hawaii?''

9. I just got off the phone with a freshman
Congressman, Bobby Bright (D) from Alaska who asked,
"How do I know which plane to get on?''
I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied,
''I was told my flight number is 823,
but none of these planes have numbers on them.''

10. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D) called and said,
'I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola , Florida.
Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?''
I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola , FL on a commuter plane.
She said, ''Yeah, whatever, smarty!''

11. Mary Landrieu (D) La. Senator called
and had a question about the documents
she needed in order to fly to China.

After a lengthy discussion about passports,
I reminded her that she needed a visa.

'Oh, no I don't. I've been to China
many times and never had to have one of those.''

I double checked and sure enough, her stay required a visa.
When I told her this she said, ''Look,
I've been to China four times and every time they
have accepted my American Express!''

12. A New Jersey Congressman (John Adler) called to make
reservations, ''I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York..''

I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said,
''Are you sure that's the name of the town?"

A'Yes, what flights do you have?'' replied the man.

After some searching, I came back with,
''I'm sorry, sir, I've looked up every airport
code in the country and can't find a rhino anywhere."

''The man retorted, ''Oh, don't be silly!
Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!''

So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally
offered, ''You don't mean Buffalo , do you?''
The reply? ''Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.''

What Makes The PS3 The Best

It should come at no surprise I would make this topic sooner or later.

So, what is the driving power behind the PS3? There are 3 major hardware designs behind the PS3's power.

1. The Cell Broadband Engine...

2. Xtreme Data-Rate DRAM...

3. nVidia's Reality Synthesizer technology.

For the rest of this post and all future posts, I'll use their proper initials: Cell BE for Cell Broadband Engine, XDR-DRAM for Xtreme Data-Rate DRAM, and RSX for Reality Synthesizer.

1. Cell BE

Cell BE: "So, how is this still as powerful today and for the next several years as it was in 2006?" An interesting question.

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/playstation-three1.htm

http://playstationlifestyle.net/2009/02/22/the-ps3-cell-broadband-engine-demystified/

The Cell BE is first and foremost a multi-core processor with 8 individual processors.

The first and major core is a PPE (Power Processing Element - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cell_(microprocessor)#Power_Processor_Element_.28PPE.29 for more information), a 2-way multi-threaded 3.2ghz PowerPC core (which is based upon IBM's Power Architecture http://www.lycos.com/info/architecture--power-architecture.html for more information), with a L2 cache of 512mb.

As said in two of the above links (and I paraphrase some of it), "it is similar to the processor seen running the Apple G5 computer. As powerful as it is, it's already able to run a computer on its own. In the Cell BE, it alone is not the entire core processor, but instead is delegated to managing information from the 7x SPEs, handling the computational workloud... and thus is the heart of the Cell BE." With the single PPE core handling the Operating System (PS3-OS in this case), the 7 SPEs are easily able to handle everything else, right? Read on.

That in itself is quite powerful. So, what are the 7x SPEs you ask? SPE stands for Synergistic Processing Elements. Each SPE is an individual processor clocked at 3.2ghz.

As Wiki puts it, "Each SPE is composed of a "Synergistic Processing Unit", SPU, and a "Memory Flow Controller", MFC (DMA, MMU, and bus interface). An SPE is a RISC processor with 128-bit SIMD organization for single and double precision instructions. With the current generation of the Cell, each SPE contains a 256 KiB embedded SRAM for instruction and data, called "Local Storage" (not to be mistaken for "Local Memory" in Sony's documents that refer to the VRAM) which is visible to the PPE and can be addressed directly by software. Each SPE can support up to 4 GiB of local store memory. The local store does not operate like a conventional CPU cache since it is neither transparent to software nor does it contain hardware structures that predict which data to load. The SPEs contain a 128-bit, 128-entry register file and measures 14.5 mm2 on a 90 nm process. An SPE can operate on sixteen 8-bit integers, eight 16-bit integers, four 32-bit integers, or four single-precision floating-point numbers in a single clock cycle, as well as a memory operation. Note that the SPU cannot directly access system memory; the 64-bit virtual memory addresses formed by the SPU must be passed from the SPU to the SPE memory flow controller (MFC) to set up a DMA operation within the system address space."

Finally, we have the EIB, according to the Wiki, "The EIB is a communication bus internal to the Cell processor which connects the various on-chip system elements: the PPE processor, the memory controller (MIC), the eight SPE coprocessors, and two off-chip I/O interfaces, for a total of 12 participants in the PS3 (the number of SPU can vary in industrial applications). The EIB also includes an arbitration unit which functions as a set of traffic lights. In some documents IBM refers to EIB bus participants as 'units'."

The EIB ties how the Cell BE works together, as an above link puts it, "This is where the “Broadband” in Broadband Engine comes to play. The EIB allows each device to communicate with each other at approximately 25 GB per second, or a single layer Blu-ray worth of data per second. All told the overall bandwidth of the EIB is approximately 300 GB/s."

In essense, the CBE is designed for parallel computing. What is Parallel Computing? It is a computation that can handle many calculations simultaneously. Furthermore, the PPE can request and receive multiple information all at once from the 7x SPEs rather than having to wait for one instruction to send another, etc.

I will post later about XDR-DRAM and the RSX technology themselves in their own respective posts.

NHC Dissension - UNAMERICAN!?

So, as of lately fellow Democrats claim criticizing their NHC plan is Un-American? What world are we living in where to having a dissenting opinion makes one un-American? Maybe someone should remind Nanci Pelosi that our nation was founded on an idea of freedom of speech; that dissension in fact has its place.

Oh, that would require reading the U.S. Constitution, wouldn't it? So then, I wonder: when was the last time anyone in Congress actually bothered reading the ~20 pages to the U.S. Constitution? Well, to be accurate one would need also be reminded of Thomas Jefferson's statements.

Regardless, this is further proof that Nanci Pelosi doesn't really know how America works. A congresswoman that doesn't know how America works, what foolishness you might say. Well, when was the last time Congress actually read an entire bill? Instead, at most they hire people to read sections of the bill for them and rely on them for accurate information. Not that I necessarily blame them, who would want to read a bill with more pages to it than the Bible (a Bible that has the Apocrapha to it)?

That, while a rhetorical question, is going to digress this to a point that I have for another entry. Point here is that Democrats think any dissension about the NHC bill is un-American.

As it is quite ironic, since one can clearly prove NHC is itself un-American. You may be asking, "how so?" Well, let me put it simple. America was founded on a very simple principle of individual responsibility, that there are certain inalienable rights evidenced by history itself, that among them we have the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This is furthermore expanded on by Libertarian principles (AKA, Classical Liberalism), that we have the right to do as we want so long as it does not infringe upon the rights of another; that all human interaction ought to be voluntary, honest, and peaceful; and that even the government must follow the same principle.

National Healthcare firstly infringes upon liberty and pursuit of happiness, and then later begins to infringe on one's right to life. Liberty because NHC not only removes all responsibility of each individual being a human being, that rather than loving thy brother as thyself, but also it coerces any and all individuals into paying for another man's health rather than allowing one-another to volunteer to pay by taking away man's fruit of labors. Pursuit of happiness, because by being taxed one is incapable of spending that money on something he/she may prefer, eg. investments, or maybe-just maybe-the individual would feel happiness by just being altruistic.

Finally, as NHC is meant to be handed out to anyone "for free", the ultimate result is the government will be forced into rationaling it in the namesake of "funding"... this is evidenced most historically by FDR's New-Deal Policy, where in it we came to terms with the likes of the original Progressive agenda now behind the NHC, gov't welfare and SSI. For several years now, people like my grandma are being issued IOU's for their welfare paychecks simply because there's not enough funding!

That means the government will either start requiring healthier lifestyles (not a bad idea per-se, just a bad idea for the government to require it), age limits, or something completely asinine. Or else, the government will also start killing off the elderly and those mentally ill, or just refuse treatments.

Even if NHC is successful, it is still wrong. Why? Because as my original point stated, rather than allowing voluntary interaction amongst individual persons, anyone and everyone is going to be coerced into paying for someone else. That is also redistribution of wealth at the very core. Neither you nor anyone else has the right to coercively take my money to give to another person, or anyone - not just me.

That is why not only dissension against the NHC is American, but NHC at the core is itself UNAMERICAN!

Dante Alighieri - An Excerpt from The Inferno

As very recently, having a discussion with my father, I went over a particular excerpt from Dante's Inferno, about the cowardly that refuse to take sides.

Inferno 3:22-69

Here sighs and cries and wails coiled and recoiled
on the starless air, spilling my soul to tears.
A confusion of tongues and monstrous accents toiled

in pain and anger. Voices hoarse and shrill
and sounds of blows, all intermingled, raised
tumult and pandemonium that still

whirls on the air forever dirty with it
as if a whirlwind sucked at sand. And I,
holding my head in horror, cried: "Sweet spirit,

what souls are these to run through this black haze?"
And he to me: "These are the nearly soulless
whose lives concluded neither blame nor praise.

They are mixed here with that despicable corps
of angels who were neither for God nor Satan,
but only for themselves. The High Creator

scourged them from Heaven for its perfect beauty,
and Hell will not receive them since the wicked
might feel some glory over them." And I:

"Master, what gnaws at them so hideously
their lamentation stuns the very air?"
"They have no hope of death," he answered me.

"and in their blind and unattaining state
their miserable lives have sunk so low
that they must envy every other fate.

No word of them survives their living season.
Mercy and Justice deny them even a name.
Let us not speak of them: look, and pass on."

I saw a banner there upon the mist.
Circling and circling, it seemed to scorn all pause.
So it ran on, and still behind it pressed

a never-ending rout of souls in pain.
I had not thought death had undone so many
as passed before me in that mournful train.

And some I knew among them; last of all
I recognized the shadow of that soul
who, in his cowardice, made the Great Denial.

At once, I understood for certain: these
were of that retrograde and faithless crew
hateful to God and to His enemies.

These wretches never born and never dead
ran naked in a swarm of wasps and hornets
that goaded them the more the more they fled,

and made their faces stream with bloody gouts
of pus and tears that dribbled to their feet
to be swallowed there by loathsome worms and
maggots.

My New Blog's Purpose

As of August 1st, 2009, An Emperor's Day no longer exists.
